Terry L. Jacobs

 youth scholarship

 fund

The Terry L. Jacobs Youth Scholarship Fund was established in 2020 to perpetuate Terry's legacy and her belief in the importance of fostering a strong Jewish identity in our children. Through supporting a variety of educational, social, camping, and fun travel experiences, this fund aims to use immersive enrichment experiences to strengthen Jewish identity and positive connections with other Jewish youth. The fund will also help Jewish youth learn to raise their voices so they can work to bring justice to a fractured world through acts of tikkun olam. The Terry L. Jacobs Youth Scholarship Fund is funded through the generosity of her beloved family and friends.

About the fund
This is Terry

This is Terry

A graduate of Temple and Harvard Universities, education was paramount to Terry, a given instilled by her parents, both physicians. An expert in healthcare management, many called her a “trailblazer” as she climbed the ladder to success, mentoring dozens of women and shattering glass ceilings during her 36+ year history at Shared Medical Systems ad Siemens.

Terry lived by some powerful principles.  For Terry, every day was an event, one not to be taken lightly.  Love was unconditional.  She fought fiercely for everything she wanted or believed in and to her, generosity was a lifestyle.

When you were with her, one of Terry’s superpowers was making you feel as if you were the only person in the room.  When you entered the warm home of Terry and her husband Joe, her face lit up.  The tables were set for you with the best, and she demanded to know about every detail of your life.  What you may not have seen were the wheels turning in her head to try to find a way she could help support and propel your success.

This spanned a lifetime.  Everyone knew she was the one to call for advice, research, a list of questions to ask, a rest or a meal. Terry loved hard and gave every ounce of herself to others.

And this fight did not fail in her final year.  When doctors gave her an eight month prognosis, she emphatically told them, “Let’s do this.”

Terry was intensely spiritual, and having lost so many to the Holocaust between her and Joe’s families, she held a deep affinity for family and tradition. A guiding motto she often preached was “If you don’t, who will?” As a mother, she wanted her children and grandchildren to experience the deep joys of Jewish life so they could then pass it on and so the Jewish people would continue to prosper.

Temple Beth Chaim brought Terry hope and joy, and we are forever grateful to Rabbi Pearlman for bringing her beautiful voice to the hospital draping Terry in calmness and peace.

If we remember what Terry taught us, and live these principles, then we will ensure that Terry Jacobs will have eternal life.
